Work platforms and walkways should be used wherever personnel are not at risk of passing below them. The material is typically placed over shallow trenches at ground level, above water channels in water treatment works, or on solid floors in order to protect walking areas from contamination. 6mm square twisted transverse bars are resistance welded into the top surface to keep the load bearing bars upright at regular intervals. It is assumed that the transverse bars are not contributing to the load-carrying abilities of the load bearing bars.
